ⅰ Brief Introduction
The showplace of Yiyuan Pithecanthrope Site and Cavities is located
at the boundary
between Tumen town and
Nanma town, 7
kilometers away from
the northwest of
Yiyuan County which is
named “Ridge of
Shandong Province”.
This place covers 21
sq. km. and can be
divided into three
ecotypic and cultural
scenical districts
that are Yiyuan unique
cavities, Forest Park
of Mount Lu and Yiyuan
Pithecanthrope Site.
It is first-class
place of interest in
Shandong. There are
the most scenical
places for visiting in
the north of China.
In general, there are
three types of scenes:
the first is the
cavity groups whose
representative is
Jiutian Cavity. It is
named by experts “No.
1 cavity groups in the
northern area of
Yangtze River” “the
largest petrifaction
cavity in China” “NO.
1 petrifaction on
earth”. The second
type is the ecotypic
system of mountains
and forests which are
represented by Forest
Park of Mount Lu.
Mount Lu is 11o8.3
meters high and is
named “the West Mount
Tai” whose 92% of
surface is covered by
vegetation. On the top
of it there are still
Tengyun Temple and
Daxiong Palace which
were built in Ming
Dynasty and near the
mountain there is a
ten-layer tower and
other old temples. The
third type mainly
refers to Yiyuan
Pithecanthrope Site.
Yiyuan apemen who
lived 400-500 thousand
years ago were the
earliest human beings
in Shandong and along
Yellow River.

1. development of ecotypic traveling around Forest Park of Mount Lu
Pint-sized villas will
be built including
houses for
sight-seeing, loft for
appreciating
waterfall, straw cabin
and frame house for

m. will be constructed
for visitors to take a
holiday, have a rest

Pithecanthrope Site
The museum project
includes display house
of apemen fossils,
showroom of
intergrowth fossils,
simulation hall of
apemen living and
“dancing together with
apemen” area. In
addition, a parking
lot about 20 thousand
sq. m. will be built.
These items will cost
20 million RMB.

construction of the
tourism area “Tianshi
Park”
In Tianshi Park, 2 or
3 rubber dams will be
set up so as to raise
the water height which
helps to form
peninsular environment
and construct a mass
paradise. This needs
investment of 20
million RMB.
Ⅱ. Ecotypic
fazenda construction
The manor will be
constructed aiming at
mainly serving family
travelers. 300
small-sized suites
will be scattered like
farmhouses, which
combines dinning and
entertainment.
Besides, one parking
lot about 10 thousand
sq. m. needs to be
built. 15 million RMB
will be invested in
these items.

Construction project
of 4-star hotel
The hotel will be
built at the entrance
to the scenic district
where Tumen local
government is located.
Covering 45 thousand
sq. m., it will
combine dining,
lodging, entertaining,
shopping, business
meeting, etc.

All in all, there will
be 180 million RMB
invested in all the
items mentioned above.

analysis of interest
Based on the analysis
of relative experience
and local traveling
guideline in recent
years, the number of
visitors to scenic
area will be increased
at 30% each year. It
is estimated that by
the year 2008 500
thousand groups of
visitors will be
treated each year. In
this case, if each
visitor consume about
250 RMB including the
cost of 60 RMB’s
ticket, 100 RMB’s
lodging, 30 RMB’s
shopping, the rest
costing 10 RMB, the
turnover in one year
will amount to 125
million RMB and the
profit each year will
be 45 million RMB.
According to this, the
whole investment will
be returned within 4
years.
